Walcheren Ceremony

This year the Walcheren ceremony will have a special significance. About 100 "Thank you" medals will be presented by the Netherlands to Canadians who have participated in the liberation of Holland. At 1:30 pm the Dutch choir will sing, followed from 1:45 - 2 pm by the Regimental Pipes and Drums. At 2 pm the ceremony will commence. We hope to see you all there.

Kyoto Luncheon

For most people, Kyoto has been a source of confusion. At our November 6 luncheon at the Danish Club we have a speaker who will shed some light on this issue. Art Patterson is a retired geological engineer whose mission it is to debunk some of the myths concerning the greenhouse effect. This promises to be a very interesting discussion, be sure to be there.

Christmas Dinner

At your request we will be back in the beautiful surroundings of the Earl Grey Golf Club. We have selected an exquisite dinner and a disk jockey will be there for your listening enjoyment. Dancing shoes are recommended, but not mandatory. We will make sure the sound levels will accommodate conversation.

New Years "Borrel"

Join us for a beverage and a "bitterbal" to ring in the new year with your fellow DCBC members.

Permanent Resident Card Luncheon

On December 31, 2003, the Permanent Resident Card will be a required document for permanent residents, including children, returning to Canada by any commercial transporter (plane, train, boat, bus or taxi).  We noticed that a lot of our members are not aware of this new document. Robert Ferguson of Citizenship and Immigration Canada will host this informative session.

Computer Clinic Part V

Another night of computer awareness. Get your computer questions answered by Microsoft Certified Trainer Rene Sloos. Please email your questions in advance and Rene will create a program based on the submitted questions and there will be an introduction to digital photography and digital video editing.

Evert van Benthem

Evert is a Dutch speed skating legend who won the "Elfsteden Tocht" (Eleven City Tour) in 1985 and 1986. This race of 200 KM is the most important Dutch speed skate event on natural ice held in the province of Friesland. Evert will talk about his accomplishments, being a celebrity in Holland, his emigration to Alberta in 2000 and about his efforts to popularize speed skating in Canada.

Calgary International Airport Excursion

This time we will take a look behind the scenes of the Calgary International Airport. Last December the new Concourse D facility was opened, the largest single construction project since the air terminal opened in it's present location in 1977. Please join us to learn what it takes to run an airport in 2003.

It's coming again! One of the highlights in our event schedule is the annual Indonesian dinner. Authentic Indonesian entertainment and food in part prepared by some of our members and for the other part by Restaurant Indonesia.
