On April 19th we gathered in the beautiful Central Library in Calgary for a presentation by Marcel Rijkens, CFO of Volker Stevin Canada.
Marcel first gave us an overview of the history and structure of the parent company in The Netherlands called VolkerWessels. It is a huge company with many subsidiaries and activities around Europa and North America. As part of this Marcel showed the video below which gives a great overview of the company:
Afterwards Marcel dived into the structure, history and projects of Volker Stevin Canada. The company has grown a lot since starting in Canada in 1978, now taking care of the highways in Southern Alberta, building big complicated infrastructure and roadways.
The presentation was fun and interactive, stirring many questions, we almost had to cut it short because the library was closing at 8. You can check out the slide deck of the presentation below:
After the presentation we walked to Soleil Bistro & Bar for drinks, snacks and great conversation.
